Fort Osage is a reconstructed replica of the first American outpost in the Lousiana Territory. Lewis and Clark stopped at this site on their way to Oregon, and it was an important stopping off point for the westward expansion. The fort sits on bluffs overlooking the Missouri river and there are spectacular vistas over the river and into the woods.
